(I TOOK THE RISK, but I want to know if this can be prevented in the future.)
I recently bought a 4-day badge from OfferUp last Monday. It was a split-second decision to attend Anime Expo since I've been a con-goer for years (this year was the only year I was hesitating to attend.)
My friends have received their badges through mail and I got to look at them before I bought the badge, so I know how to look out for bootlegs and fakes (or so I thought.) I met up with this guy in front of a local Gamestop and he had sold me his badge for $80. Not bad right? I thought so too. Being low on funds and all, I scavenged whatever income I have saved for the duration of AX.
Fast forward to today- I went into AX to try out the new RFID badge only for it to be confiscated and me basically taking the "L".
I learned my lesson, but I want this experience to spread for Anime Expo to see on the flaw in their new "mailing system". Simply by claiming its lost, people can make $$$ out of "stolen or lost" badges while they get a replacement.
So my question is, is there any way to deal with this?
