One of the cosplays I'm planning for this upcoming AX is of Pandora's Actor and my interpretation of the strings shown on his belt loop and on the shoulder of his overcoat are that they are chains, but I wasn't sure if the rules for chains on props also applied to chains that are sewn into the outfit as an accessory.

If the chains are sewn into the outfit in such a way that they aren't removable and are being used as an accessory rather than as part of a weapon-like prop, then are they ok to use?

Hello Aya,

Thank you for your inquiry. Per our weapons policy “Metal chains must be less than 12 inches long and no more than one inch thick.” As your purpose of the chain is an accessory it falls into a gray area.

To play it on the safe side, we suggest that you create the chain out of gold cording or out of plastic chain.

I hope the above information was helpful. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please let us know and we will be glad to assist you.

Best Regards,

Anime Expo Weapons Policy
